Professional delivery and installation is available for every product we sell. We would be happy to coordinate delivery and installation for you.

Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

stops cooling - same issue over and over

sparty94 10/24/2019

Purchased this product with our brand new home in Spring of 2016. Loved the fridge until 3 months after the warranty the horror started. Similar to other reviews (which tells me Whirlpool knows about the issue) the fridge starts to make a noise like a fan burning out and days later the fridge slowing starts getting warm. We are know on our third time of repairing the same issue only having to wait 2-3 weeks to get the part. I have now spent about 1/2 the value of the fridge in repairs. Time to put it on the street. To top it off - I contacted Whirlpool customer support and they acted like nothing is wrong and there is nothing they can do. After much research I can see Whirlpool is well aware of the issue and chooses to stick it to their loyal customers. Avoid this fridge or any like it. It will cost you!!!!!

Very disappointed with this product

mom1234 10/9/2019

Bought this fridge from Lowe's in the fall of 2016. We bought it because of the large capacity and look. The first one was dented in the back. They brought another one about a month later. The second has been repaired 4 times (waiting on repair currently). First, freezer door would not close (two different occasions). Next time it was a bad circuit board which took a long time to repair. This time it is (possibly) a bad compressor (but they won't know for sure until they order and bring it out. Special order part won't arrive for 2-3 business days (which will either be Friday or Monday). Then they will call me to set up the actual repair. If they test it with new compressor and that is not the issue, we start all over. Meanwhile, we are without a refrigerator! We have lost all fridge food twice! Luckily, we bought an extended warranty w/Lowes to help cover these issues. But sadly, we can't get back time spent dealing w/these issues and the inconvenience of no kitchen fridge for days and days! Also, when fridge does work, little drawer with sliders gets very dirty all the time, and really it is hard to clean/keep clean. The drawer behind it is not good, because you can't see what is in there. One door shelf broke last year. I contacted Whirlpool, but the shelf they want to send me is not the right one and none of the shelves the rep showed me matches the one I actually have (they have the model and serial # correct). One the bright side, we do like the 2 ice makers. Our background: We have purchase MANY Whirlpool appliances for our home and multiple vacation rental properties. Not happy with this purchase.

Worst Ever!!!

Marnack 9/5/2019

This fridge has been one headache after another. This last time the compressor went out. It has an "ant type" compressor that Sears, who we have a Master warranty with can't/wont fix. We have been without a fridge for a month with no end in sight. I hate this fridge and will probably NEVER buy Whirlpool or Sears again....ever!!

Refrigerator with Infinite Repair Issues

NoChillFunction 8/7/2019

This refrigerator has recurring problems with the same issue. I chose this model from a reputable home appliance retailer as the first purchase for my new home. Just outside two-weeks from the manufacturer's warranty period, the unit stopped cooling (May 15, 2019) I contacted Whirlpool to have a certified technician revise my appliance on May 16, 2019 to address a loud whining noise coming from the refrigerator portion. The technician replaced the control unit which corrected the problem but it has returned and am having to schedule another service call. As described to me by the technician, the electrical control board stopped working. The malfunction of the electrical control board (Manufacturer Part Number W11169503) which among other things triggers the defrost cycle caused the coils inside the refrigerator portion to freeze-over and interfere with the fan and as a result produced the loud noise and lack of airflow in the unit. The lack of airflow prevents efficient cooling which will result in all your food spoiling if you don't care for it within days of hearing the noise. As of August 7, 2019 the exact same problem has returned and I am having to schedule another service call and throw away all of my spoiling food. Based on other's reviews of this model, this is a recurring issue and has not been resolved by Whirlpool as reflected in over 30% of the reviews for this model rated it two stars or lower due to the same problem of not cooling and multiple service calls. I realize that I was just out of warranty (by a few weeks) but the problem is happening again and after multiple service calls, the value of your product and commitment to your customers is rapidly deteriorating.

I purchased this fridge the beginning of July. I have been very pleased with the features that make putting up and using food easy. The dual ice maker is a great feature and the infinity slide shelf may be favorite thing about the fridge.

HORRIBLE REFRIGERATOR

Jimmybuffet88 6/28/2019

This the worst appliance I've ever bought, in three years it has broken 3 times resulting in loss of all our food each time. Warranty covered the repairs first two times but warranty is no longer valid and it broke again. I contacted whirlpool and was told they can't do anything since the warranty is up. Four months old and already stopped working

Wishihadntboughthis 4/22/2019

I should have heeded the bad reviews I read on this fridge. Instead I paid attention to the good ones. Don't make that mistake. We bought this model four months ago and it already the refrigerator section stopped working. Now we have gone 12 days without a working refrigerator that we spent a lot of money on. With two small children it is a major inconvenience. We bought this when our 10 year old Samsung fridge went out on us. We picked a Whirlpool because several technicians told us they were more reliable and had better service and easier to get parts. Unfortunately, that was wrong. When I called to report the problem, Whirlpool was less than helpful. The first person said it was a common problem on this model. The second person told me I couldn't set up a repair appointment until I produced a receipt for purchase. I registered it on the whirlpool website when I bought it four months ago and get daily emails from them. I have the confirmation from the registration. Yet she insisted I didn't register it. Finally she relents and schedules the appointment for 4 days later and says I can email the receipt when I find it. I find the receipt and email it. Four days later the contracted technician shows up and spends 10 minutes tops doesn't pull the fridge out. Sits down and fills out his warranty repair paperwork and says it's a thermister and needs to be replaced but he doesn't have the part and will have to order it. He doesn't know how long but they will call when it's in to schedule an appointment. As he is leaving he says if you take everything out of the freezer too (which was still working) you can just unplug it and leave doors open and thaw it out then see if it will work temporarily until they comeback. Then he leaves. So I have to empty the rest of the freezer and move this massive fridge myself and climb behind it and unplug it in hopes it will thaw and work again. I would not call this good service. Now here we are on day 12 and it's still not working and no indication when it will be fixed. Hopefully he is right about the part they ordered. We have lost all of our food and too much time to count on phone with them and service people. I wish I had bought another Samsung. At least I got 10 years out of it before having a single problem. Apart from the terrible service experience and fact it is still not working, here are a few observations. The size on this massive and biggest we found which is why we picked it. We had to remove an interior door frame to accommodate it on delivery. Make sure to measure inside too as well. This thing is a beast. It's a neat design inside and lots of room but a few pains. If you don't shut the doors in exactly the right way it will stay open and you won't realize it until it dings. there is a design flaw for sure in the way the doors fit together and get hung up. There is not much room for tall bottles inside unless you push back the middle shelf panel which then makes the other space awkward to put other items in. The second day we had it the trim piece on the shelf fell off and won't stick back on. All in all this fridge has been a bust for us. We lost a lot of food and time and are still waiting for it to be fixed.

Great when it works

Disappointed in 2019 4/5/2019

We purchased this refrigerator in Jan 2017 and we loved it. The space is amazing, shelves are very sturdy, dual ice makers, etc. but now it doesn't work... in Oct 2018 the compressor froze up, ice makers quit first then freezer. First warranty tech came out seemed he knew what he was looking for ordered a bunch of parts waited several weeks for parts to come in. Then second tech came out and said there was nothing wrong with it somehow it had reset itself he replaced the door seal that was ripping because how the doors closed. No issues until April 2019 and bam no ice again, freezer then completely went out now a few days later and frig is at a balmy 58. Warranty tech came out again this time from another company and he has no clue what's wrong with it he actually called whirlpool and those techs had no idea either. Now we have no choice but to get a different frig unfortunately none are as big as this one. So very disappointed! We were really hoping this frig would last longer than 2 years.

Do not buy this refrigerator!

Terry2222 3/10/2019

Had this refrigerator for about a year (after almost six months of delivery delays the store blamed on the factory) and it is the worst decision we ever made. Biggest disappointment is probably the shelving in both the refrigerator and freezer areas. While they make look perfect for every situation you can think of, reallly they are just useless and annoying. Being unable to move the shelving leads to unutilized space and massive gaps. The second shelf also has structural issues due to the sliding shelf and our has bent so much that we rarely use it due to a fear it will collapse any day. This refrigerator has made me vow to never by a Whirlpool product again!

Bad buy - AVOID AT ALL COST !!

jfrowe1 3/8/2019

I bought this about two years ago. It is so bad I had to go buy a back refrigerator to keep from losing food every time this one failed. I have had multiple service calls and still it keeps freezing up and the temperature is now a toasty 51 degrees in the main box. I read in many other reviews that this is not a known problem. I would offer the thought that Whirlpool does not know their product very well. This is probably the worst appliance I have ever bought.

Compressor out at 18 Months

NoFridegeInBoise 2/23/2019

Love this fridgerator when it works, the space has spoiled us. Storage layout is very good. Being able to store multiple Gallon jugs in door, is very good for us. The ice machines are decent but not real fast refilling. But after 18 months the compressor went out, it is under warranty but has now been 5 weeks and we are still waiting to get it fixed. The compressors are oiless and need special equipment which the 2 repairmen sent so far haven't had. This is hard to rate, it is awesome when running but a unit at this price range that is down in less then 2 years and takes so long to be fixed is only going to get 2 stars from me.

Poor design

AHi es 2/15/2019

I have owned this unit since July 2017 and am currently scheduled for service for a second time. In less than two years we have owned this fridge, we have had an issue with the refrigerator not cooling. The freezer works fine, but there is a design flaw with this unit that eventually results in, what I believe to be a damper door freezing up, so it does not bring cold air in from the freezer. Fortunately I have an extended warranty through Geek Squad, because I contacted Whirlpool directly and was pretty much told that I had to deal with Geek Squad, because this is not a known issue. Well here I am reading through the reviews and quickly realize that it isn't an isolated issue. Therefore, if you are in the market do not buy this fridge, I would even recommend another brand given how this has been dealt with.

Nothing But Trouble

Ebatch 2/11/2019

Love the layout. The functionality is the issue. Every few months we have to clear it out to defrost the entire thing. The freezer drawer doesn't shut correctly either so we have to make sure to press hard on one side to make sure it has a seal. We had a technician come and replace a number of parts to fix this known issue. Then a few months later after the warranty ended it messed up again and we had to clear everything out to let it defrost for over 24 hours. I'm so glad we kept our old fridge as extra storage or else we would have to throw everything out at least every 8 months. A $3,000 fridge should function better and have longer warranty for these known and common issues. I've seen so many reviews saying they have the same problems.

good fridge

aptsrus1993 2/11/2019

We bought this in September 2019, I love everything about this fridge. We did have the ice and water stop working and the service guy said that the people who installed the fridge didn't connect the wires tight and they came loose. Also told us that the metal is not real stainless steel because magnets stick to this. The installers put a couple of small dents in the side. Only downside to the inside is the bottom cheese drawer doesn't come out far enough and the fridge is a little noisy. Love the veg and fruit drawers

A high priced lemon - beware!

TTCLauren 11/12/2018

Purchased Feb 17 for the features, but it's been a nightmare. 50 degree temp, no ice, 5 service calls (just out of warranty when it started in July 2018) two lost batches of food. Replaced ice maker and control board. Nothing. Been without a fridge for 4 months now. Home warranty company getting ready to offer me a replacement and I don't think it will be a whirlpool this time after 11 years of brand loyalty this is truly disappointing.

If I could give this product less than one star, I would. We purchased this refrigerator in May 2017. After a few months, the ice production started to slow & the freezer was constantly frosted over. Fortunately, we purchased the extended warranty. After a repair technician was called out twice, it stopped making ice altogether. Repair technician came out a third time...still not fixed. He has now had calls with Whirlpool who advise it needs coolant, which is supposed to be done on Wednesday...if it lasts that long! In the last few days, it no longer keeps the contents cold. Today, it started making noise that has only gotten louder since the day has progressed. This is not the quality of a $3000 refrigerator!!! This is not good customer service! If they marketed a faulty product, step up & make it with your customers! Laws protect consumers...with the high number of this failed product, maybe a class action lawsuit needs to be looked into! I just want a refrigerator that works!!!

Overall Great Buy

Rew9187 11/1/2018

I bought this refrigerator about 2 months ago. We have not been let down yet. There is so much space inside that we have enough room to store all items that we could ever want.

Refridgerator stopped cooling

Tim1234 3/3/2018

I had this refrigerator installed in April of 2017. Just recently the ice makers stopped working and the refrigerator stopped cooling. Called Whirlpool for help and was on hold for 15 minutes only to realize they were closed on Saturdays. Thanks for the message Whirlpool. I did a little investigative work myself and realized the evaporator coil is frozen. How does this happen? Based on reviews online this is a very common problem with this refrigerator. I may cut my losses and get a new refrigerator if there is no long term fix.

Don't BUY! Zero Stars!

KimKT 2/25/2018

We purchased this refrigerator from Sears and took delivery of it in September 2017. We have had the electric board replaced 2 times and it still does not get to the temperature it's set for. The temperature fluxuates and eventually stops working (2 times in 4 months.) The newly installed "version 8" board still does not hold the temperature. So frustrating! This severe of a problem - and according to Sears this does not constitute a problem that would warrant a replacement. They offered $30 to replace the food the second time we lost all our food. I would stay away from this Whirlpool refrigerator.

Ashburk 2/7/2018

During the first three months sears service guy has been out 4 times to make repairs. No ice, ice maker replaced then motherboard replaced, now bottom ice maker fell off bracket and broke, waiting a new one to be installed. We had high hopes but very unhappy with product so far.

Water Filter housing leaks

Harold Seldin 2/5/2018

I purchased this Model #:WRF993FIFM Serial #:K72408761 ,Registered: 08/13/2017 from Lowes. Had the water line installed around Sept. Water was leaking from water filter housing. Wells Appliance came out (whirlpool Authorized service dealer.) Found that there was a update and ordered the new parts. We had a mess in the kitchen with the water leaking in the refrigerator. Six months later Feb 2018 go to install new filter and the filter can not be removed. Wells appliance comes out and has to to use channel lock pliers to remove old filter. installed new filter and service person leaves. Go to cycle water to get air from system and we have the original problem. But now we have installed new hardwood floors that have water damage. waiting to hear back

Should of listened

Me. Ed 2/5/2018

We bought this refrigerator almost a year ago, since then I have had to call 4 times for warranty work, just like everyone else, the unit works well for about 2-3 months then one day the ice maker in the door starts to slow down making ice, then the ice maker in the pull out drawer slows down making ice and then the refrigerator temp starts warming up slowly until you get up one morning and it's 50 degrees in there. This is the 4th time I've had to throw food away. The appliance repair company even did the technical bulletin on the last visit and it seemed to help, but once again I had to call the warranty department to schedule another visit for them to come out and see if they can fix it. Whirlpool customer service says they won't consider it under the lemon laws until the 5th visit and then it's up to the technician. Really when you spend over 3,000.00 on something like this you would expect better quality and help from the customer service department. We will see what the appliance repair company says when they show up for the 5th time.

Just wait. It will break at least twice in 12 mo.

Derek Bar 2/5/2018

We bought our FRENCH DOOR REFRIGERATOR Item #: 612864 | Model #: WRF993FIFM on 5/29/2017 at Lowes. It worked great for 3 months. Then it starting making a high pitched humming sound and the refrigerator temp shot up to 60 degrees. We lost hundreds of dollars of food. Of course, we were still in the one year manufacturer's warranty period, so a third party contracted repair company came out and replaced the entire evaporator fan unit. It was completely frosted over and not working at all. But now it worked so everything seemed fine, right? Fast forward another 4 months to 1/23/2018 and the exact same problem came back. It started with the high pitched humming sound and the refrigerator temp shot up to 60 degrees again almost instantly. Again, we lost hundreds of dollars of food. Of course, we were still in the one year manufacturer's warranty period, so the same third party contracted repair company came out and replace the exact same evaporator fan unit. Guess what? It was completely frosted over and not working at all. But now it worked, again, so everything seemed fine, right? Even the repair man said that this is a poorly designed refrigerator and we should kick and scream to get our money back from Whirlpool. He said, once the one year manufacturer's warranty is over then I either need to spend several hundred dollars on an extended warranty which has less protections, or I need to buy another refrigerator (a non-whirlpool). Even if they keep fixing it for 'free' we still lose hundreds of dollars of food every time it fails. So, stay away from this model. Even if someone offers you one for free, don't take it. You'll only see all your food spoil each time it breaks and that will cost you more money than you would have spent on a brand / model that actually works.

Should have listened to the reviews

wmontgom 2/1/2018

I figured that negative reviews were more prominent because typically, only those who run into issues leave reviews. Unfortunately, I am now one of those negative reviewers because the refrigerator has stopped working after less than 3 months. First the ice maker went out, but I figured it was just fluke and since we have the second ice maker, I procrastinated on getting service tech out. But, I wake this morning to find that the refrigerator is sitting at about 70 degrees, when the setting has it at 37 degrees. Not what you want to experience when you wake to a hungry, screaming child who you can't give milk to because your milk is now spoiled. I am so sorely disappointed and the fact that I can't get a service tech out for at least 5 days (because apparently service is booked tight until Feb 6, and today is Feb 1) is the icing on the cake. So, I get to spend more money getting a small refrigerator to keep baby milk and food cold until my refrigerator can get fixed. Mind you, this refrigerator is $3800 by itself; not like we went and bought some cheap unit. You spend $3700, you expect better quality. Believe me, next time, I'll listen to reviews and stick with a more reputable manufacturer and brand.

Great storage design, but it doesn't cool!

Sherrieb 1/30/2018

Bought this last April, works great for about 2 months and then stops cooling and makes a horrible noise. This is now the 4th time they are coming to repair. This should have been replaced months ago. We have lost so much food and have been inconvenienced so many times. Whirlpool, you really need to do a better job at taking care of your customer. VERY Disappointed!

Nice, but needs improvement

homeowner11111111 1/2/2018

First off, if you're looking at this refrigerator, measure your house doors. This unit is really big. It does not fit through 32 inch doors, even with the doors off. We brought ours in through the sliding glass door. If you're short, you will not be able to reach stuff at the back of the top shelf. I'm 5'-6" and can't reach it. I use long plastic trays to hold items on the top shelf so I can pull them out. I've had this refrigerator in use for 11 months now. We did have the control panel failure that many people have written about, but it was replaced under warranty at no cost to us and has been working great since then. The technician said it was a known problem, and that Whirlpool had developed a new and improved replacement controller. We were fortunate to still have our old refrigerator, so we suffered no food loss while waiting 2 weeks for the replacement part. What I love about this refrigerator is the dual ice makers that keep up with my husband's love of ice water and the enormous refrigerator capacity. We have a separate full size freezer, and I was wanting more refrigerator space for fresh produce than most refrigerators have. I love the different size produce drawers and the capacity of the door shelves to hold so much stuff. What I don't like, and what I hope Whirlpool will take as constructive criticism is that the shelves do not have enough adjustment and the drawers to not pull out far enough. The shelves only have two height adjustments. With them set with the brackets down they don't hold any tall jars. If I set one shelf with the bracket vertical the higher space is way bigger than it needs to be and the shorter space is just 1/8 inch too short for a mayo jar, or any of my 4 cup ziplock containers.. If I utilize the sliding shelf to put a tall item on a shelf, then it just blocks the view of everything behind it. I would much rather have side-by-side shelves that I can set at different heights so I can put all the tall stuff on one side and still see the smaller stuff. The other really annoying thing is that the produce and deli drawers only pull half way out. Really??! To get a head of lettuce or cauliflower out of the produce drawer I either have to empty the front of the drawer or pull it out beyond the stops and hope I don't drop the whole thing. I do, however, like the pocket in the front of the larger produce drawer that holds long skinny things like celery and green onions. As for the freezer, I like the sliding trays, but I really wish everything sliding thing could also be removed for when I want to put larger items in the freezer. Especially stupid is the horizontal basket in the center of the lower right bin that slides maybe an inch forward or back, but has a 1 inch gap underneath it where frozen vegetable packs can slip under and hide. The vertical pizza pocket in the front is great for ice packs and frozen veggies, but I would never consider putting a pizza in there unless I want all my toppings to fall off. I do like that the ice bin in the lower freezer is removable for filling ice buckets. I wish the upper tray on the right side was also removable so I could have a little more height to put my freezer containers and casseroles on the lower tray. It almost seems to me that whoever designed the trays and shelves has never been to an American grocery store, or at least does not cook. I don't use or buy oddly large containers, but have been disappointed at how well this refrigerator accommodates normal size products and containers. One last complaint, and this was discovered when we had the control panel replaced. The doors do not open far enough to allow removal of the shelves. This is just stupid. It means I can't even take them out to thoroughly wash them if something were to spill. Even with removing the door bins, the clear opening width is not wide enough to allow the shelves to be removed to access the center control panel. There was nothing obstructing the doors. It was just that the hinge would not allow the doors to swing back far enough. Our service technician fussed with this for over an hour then finally, with our help, had to remove the doors. Likewise, we could not remove the deli drawer with the doors attached. The technician said if we could thaw out the built up ice behind the deli drawer, the refrigerator would work OK until he could get us the new controller, but we couldn't even get to the ice buildup without taking the doors off and removing the drawer. So he spent another half hour here thawing out the ice for us to make sure we had a temporarily working refrigerator before he left. So far, with the new controller, the refrigerator is working great. It holds much more food than any other refrigerator I've ever had, and keeps it at such a low temperature that produce keeps for weeks instead of days, but there is still a lot of room for improvement on the flexibility of this unit to hold standard size containers.

Sadly, a great opportunity squandered!

GrandDude 12/27/2017

I never have nor ever expected to write such a review! What a tragedy for Whirlpool! As my title indicates, this potentially wonderful, industry leading refrigerator has squandered a great opportunity, suffering the built-in consequences of poor design and poor service. What clearly is a grabber at the sales end of the life cycle, becomes a nightmare for not only this Whirlpool customer, but too many others. Having successfully used the Sears Kenmore Elite refrigerator (a Whirlpool product) for many years in the past, we decided, when our Kenmore finally failed, to go direct with Whirlpool for this one, impressed as we were with Whirlpool history of quality products! What a surprising disappointment!! Right out of the box, the refrigerator had problems with the filter - clogged) and immediately replaced (reluctantly) by Lowes - and within days high temperature issues preventing upper cabinet ice maker production and requiring re-positioning of a poorly located temperature sensor, the repair of which was completed without fully defrosting the refrigerator, such that the ice-maker system could not reset itself and produce ice. So, for the second time after the fifth service call, we completely defrosted the refrigerator (24 hours), tossing out food, as necessary. Wow, for a while we had a 4-5 month glimpse of how great this refrigerator could be with both ice-makers producing ice in better than expected (because of the reviews) volumes.....until the 2017 Thanksgiving-Christmas holiday season at which time the ice-makers both ceased production, apparently due to failure of the automatic-defrost features, which seems to allow excessive frost build-up and compromise the temperature control functions. We are in the process of performing another manual defrost with the hope that the refrigerator will be able to reset itself and restore the integrity and performance of its temperature controls and ice-production. But, I guess we know what to expect, given the other recent similar reviews. Even so, we will give it another shot! To clarify: this is the Whirlpool French Door Refrigerator, Model: WRF993FIFM00, Serial Number: K71517642, purchased 9 May 2017 from Lowes Home Center, 7395 52nd Place East, Bradenton, FL 34203 with Extended Protection Plan, Reference Number 0077255417129193858001. Initial problems took us through the end of July 2017. The current defrost exercise should be completed by Friday, such that we may be operational in two days, until the next event and decision point! That said, I have seen your responses to other negative reviews and so would prefer you not patronize this review with a similar response. I regret that I cannot recommend this product, though I wish that I could!! Have a great New Year!!

Worst fridge ever!!!!

Marcy207 12/20/2017

I purchased this fridge May 2017. Stopped cooling August 2017 after losing 100 dollars in food and 2 week wait for part to fix fridge very frustrated. Now December 20 2017 fridge has stopped cooling again and ice maker makes horrible knocking noise that will last up to a minute. Called for repair have full warranty on fridge and a 2 week wait for repairman to come out and look at fridge. Once again lost 100 dollars worth of food and will be without a fridge during Christmas and New Years. Please read all reviews and do not buy this fridge!!!!! WISH I WOULD HAVE READ REVIEWS BEFORE I BOUGHT THIS FRIDGE!!!!!!!!!

Good refrigerator BUT have same issue repeatedly

gotlime 12/12/2017

Pros: Plenty of room! Love the second ice maker (my family uses a lot of ice!). Cons: Breaks down roughly every 2-3 months. I wish I would have heeded the other reviews before I purchased this fridge. I thought we'd get lucky and avoid the issues that have plagued so many others; unfortunately, we have not. We bought the fridge in June and have had the same issue three times. A part in the motor freezes and the fridge stop cooling. Eventually, the ice maker stops working, as well (oddly the freezer continues to work). It happened the first time in August, again in October; it's now December and we the same issue again. Each time this happens, we're without the fridge for a minimum of 2 weeks (2-3 days waiting for the service call, 7-10 days for the part to come in, 1-3 days to schedule service to replace the part). Luckily, after the first time, we've caught the issue before all our food is ruined and we have a second refrigerator to move our items to while we wait for the service appointment and then the part to arrive. I really want to like the refrigerator as it's been perfect for our family...when it's working. I'm extremely disappointed that Whirlpool hasn't done more to address the issue, since it seems to be widespread with this model.

Same repeated problem

John123456789 12/8/2017

We experienced the ice maker stopped working and then the refrigerator would not keep the temp low and then a loud whirling noise after 3 months. Lost about $700 in food. Found this is known problem, but there is no recall or refund. New parts installed and three months later same problem. Repair guy here again trying to fix it. (three months after first fix and six months after purchase). If you experience same problem, pull out the deli drawer and look way back. If you see frost/ice, this means you will lose everything soon. Some how ice builds up and blocks the fan, then causing one of the cooling fans to stop working, no ice and then no cooling.

Shanx 11/30/2017

Same deal as so many others. We loved the fridge, and its been great for 3 months. Ice makers start to slow down, freezer starts to frost up and now its making loud noise. Fridge is now not cooling and repair person cannot come for 3 days. So, we lose a whole fridge of food for family of 6. Probably few $100. Ugh, hoping this is not the start of long haul like so many others below here. New fridge should not be a headache.

Great Refrigerator - Lot's of Space

Franc859 11/27/2017

We bought this fridge in June for our new house - matches all of our other Whirlpool stainless appliances perfectly! It has great space and ability to reconfigure shelves based upon your needs. Doors hold large items and I love having the small tray for cold cuts and cheeses. The freezer has good space and an extra ice maker which is nice for summer. I would like to see the dividers in the freezer be moveable or removable. Our 22 lb. Thanksgiving turkey just barely fit, even moving all of our food around. Nice features like the filters for air quality and water are really appreciated.

BIG on room, lacking in quality and design!

KotzMN 11/21/2017

Like many of the other reviews here, we started to have problems with the unit making ice from the start. We had the upper ice maker replaced, then the lower ice maker quit. We had another service call to replace the lower door gasket which seemed to solve the issue with the lower ice maker but only for about 3 weeks, at which time both makers quit producing all together. Next, while waiting for another service call, the unit quit cooling and would maintain a temperature of only 54 degrees. The next two service calls involved defrosting the fridge of built up frost along the underside of the back inner panel while waiting for yet another ice maker replacement and a condenser/evaporator part replacement. As noted, this has caused us nothing but problems from the very start. We also now need replacement of the lower side door bin that has completely cracked fallen apart. Not at all what one would expect from a higher priced unit. Very disappointed!

Don't buy this one!

tigger71sd 11/21/2017

We had been looking for a new refrigerator for several weeks. When we saw this one, we knew it was the one. It has ample space, most of the space is usable, extra shelves and bin in the freezer for better organization and not much wasted space. Dual freezers were great since we love to entertain. Even though it was a little bigger than we wanted, due to the space in our kitchen, we decided to buy it. YAY! Delivery was on time and great. Our new beautiful refrigerator was installed and we were happy. That was in September 2016. BUT, that was short lived. Within a month it stopped cooling in the refrigerator. Since it was within the first 30 days of purchase, we decided to just have it replaced with a brand new one because sometimes you just get a bad one, right? We should have just returned it. The new one came in mid-October 2016 and everything was great until June 2017. It started making this horrible sound and stopped cooling again. The repairman had us defrost (because frost built up in the back and blocked the airflow) so he could replace a control board. Then in July 2017 the ice maker stopped working. This time the freezer frosted as well. Uggh. The repairman found it to be the same issue and replaced the ice maker and another part. Then in August 2017 (yes, the next month again), the refrigerator stopped cooling again. This time they replaced the thermostat. In case you're wondering, I did try to get a refund from Lowe's and Whirlpool, but they said it needed to be fixed three times and have a fourth call for the same thing. I'll spare you those details. Now, here comes October 2017, days after the manufacturer's warranty expires, and it stops cooling AGAIN! Thank goodness we purchased the extended warranty from Lowe's. You may be thinking at this point "4th call for the same thing, refund". Nope. This is the first call using the extended warranty so those prior calls no longer matter. Again, I won't get into that. But, the repairman came out and said it is the same issue again and recommended it be replaced. THANK YOU REPAIRMAN! That finally worked so I can get a new refrigerator. I am very disappointed in Whirlpool's service and the quality of this product. I expected more from them considering how reliable they USED to be. These are known issues with this model, yet Whirlpool still hasn't fixed it and they are still selling it. Moral of the story... don't be fooled by the cool features. Do your research and pay attention to the reviews. We certainly are this time.
